Seismic Site Characterization for the Western Galilee Desalination Plant – IDE Technologies

A comprehensive geological, geotechnical, and geophysical investigation was carried out to support the design of the seawater intake and brine outfall systems for the planned Western Galilee Desalination Plant. The study included the integration of offshore and onshore borehole data, analysis of high-resolution bathymetric mapping, interpretation of offshore seismic profiles, and subsurface characterization along the proposed pipeline routes. The investigation identified submerged kurkar ridges, defined the geological and geotechnical units across the shallow continental shelf, and evaluated subsurface conditions to support the design and installation of three offshore pipelines, while identifying engineering constraints and geological hazards along the alignment.
