Seismic Site Characterization for the Expansion of the Tzafit Power Station

Tzafit Power Station

Shikun & Binui

For the expansion project of the Tzafit Power Station, a comprehensive geophysical investigation was conducted, including active surface wave surveys (MASW), passive surface wave surveys (ReMi and ESAC), and HVSR surveys to characterize the site's resonance frequency. In addition, seismic refraction and reflection surveys were carried out along several survey lines. The objective of the investigation was to characterize the subsurface structure, determine shear-wave velocity profiles, identify the natural resonance frequencies of the ground, and evaluate the geological and geotechnical conditions relevant to the design of the power station expansion.
